A Sensitive Ultrahigh-Performance Liquid Chromatography/Tandem Mass Spectrometry Method for the Simultaneous Analysis of Phytocannabinoids and Endocannabinoids in Plasma and Brain
Laboratory studyOther animals
- Design
- Laboratory study
- Subjects
- Method validation, with an application in adolescent male and female mice
- Dose used in the study
- No palmitoylethanolamide was given; PEA was one of the measured analytes
- Duration
- Not stated in the abstract
- What was measured
- Simultaneous quantification of THC, its metabolites, CBD, anandamide, 2-AG, PEA and OEA in plasma and brain by UHPLC/MS-MS; linearity, limits of quantification and detection.
What the authors reported
Calibration was linear (R2 > 0.99) from 0.02 to 500 ng/mL. The lowest limit of quantification for PEA was 2.0 ng/mL and the detection limit 1.0 ng/mL. Applying the method showed that phytocannabinoid administration raised endocannabinoid levels in plasma and brain of adolescent mice.
Limits of this study
An analytical-method paper with a mouse application; it cannot show effect in people. The authors declare no competing interests.
