What the authors reported
Palmitoylethanolamide is protective and anti-inflammatory in laboratory models but has no antioxidant activity of its own, which the authors give as the reason for pairing it with the flavonoid luteolin. They report the combination outperformed either compound alone in laboratory work.
Limits of this study
A narrative review that rests mainly on cell and animal studies. The authors note that knowledge of the mechanisms is incomplete and comes mostly from laboratory models. The funding and conflict statements were not visible on the page checked.
