Laboratory studyOther animals
- Design
- Laboratory study
- Subjects
- Male C57BL/6J mice given cocaine to induce behavioural sensitization and conditioned place preference (CPP)
- Dose used in the study
- PEA 1 or 10 mg/kg, intraperitoneal, given repeatedly or acutely
- Duration
- Not stated precisely in the abstract
- What was measured
- Acquisition and expression of cocaine-induced behavioural sensitization (BS) and conditioned place preference (CPP)
What the authors reported
Repeated PEA at both doses blocked acquisition of cocaine-induced behavioural sensitization. Acute PEA at both doses stopped expression of behavioural sensitization, and the higher dose also stopped expression of conditioned place preference.
Limits of this study
A mouse model of drug addiction; it cannot show effect in people. Funding and conflicts not stated in the abstract.
