Indraccolo U, Indraccolo SR, Mignini F. Ann Ist Super Sanita. 2017;53(2):125-134.

Meta-analysisHumansWith transpolydatin

This study tested palmitoylethanolamide together with transpolydatin. Its results cannot be assigned to palmitoylethanolamide alone. More combination studies.

Design
Meta-analysis
Subjects
4 studies, which the authors rate as poor quality
Dose used in the study
Micronised palmitoylethanolamide 400 mg with transpolydatin 40 mg twice a day
Duration
3 months
What was measured
Change in pain scores for chronic pelvic pain, dysmenorrhoea, dyspareunia and dyschezia from baseline to 3 months.

What the authors reported

Across a mixed sample, the combination gave a clinically relevant improvement in pelvic pain and dysmenorrhoea, a limited improvement in deep dyspareunia and none in dyschezia.

Limits of this study

Four poor-quality studies, the authors' own description, most without a control group, so the pooled change is before-and-after, not against placebo. The authors call for more studies. Published by the Italian national health institute.
